Module 1 - 21 Minutes
Effective Technology Transfer
Technology transfer is the process by which research findings and new technology are transferred into useful processes, products and programs. It can serve two functions in a highway agency. It allows the agency to act as receiver of new information from outside sources. And it allows the agency to act as provider of information to various offices within the agency. Seven aspects of technology transfer are covered in this videotape. They include: (1) a definition of technology transfer; (2) steps in adopting new technology; (3) barriers to implementation; (4) characteristics affecting adoption of technology; (5) organizational characteristics affecting the transfer; (6) effective delivery systems; and (7) recommendations for improved technology transfer.
Module 2 - 25 Minutes
Establishing an Effective Technology Transfer Program
The primary objective of technology transfer centers is to improve transportation safety, mobility, efficiency and economy. The centers provide innovative methods which result in improved roadway infrastructures, especially benefiting those with no ready access to technical information. This videotape covers basic procedures for establishing an effective technology transfer program including the planning process, organizing and implementing the program.
