ITS Systems Engineering Process, Architecture and Standards

Objectives

This is a two-day workshop. The objective of using the principles of Systems Engineering for ITS projects is to manage and reduce the risk of:

  • Project cost overrun and schedule delay, and

  • Completing projects that are challenged with regard to meeting all stakeholder needs

This course will give the students confidence to use the systems engineering process to develop ITS projects that meet stakeholder needs, through the development of:

  • Plans
  • Requirements
  • Specifications
  • Test plans

Requirements

You will need a notebook.

Course Topics

  • Analysis of Project and/or Regional Needs
  • Development of a Project or Regional ITS Architecture and Standards including a set of ITS projects to build out the architecture
  • Follow the Systems Engineering Process for each project:
    Concept of Operations
    Requirements
    Specifications
    Testing
    Verification and Validation
