IRF Officially Announces the Host and Location of its 2013 World Meeting & Exhibition

On behalf of His Excellency Engineer Abdullah Al-Mogbel, Chairman of IRF Washington and Deputy Minister for Transport of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Patrick Sankey, President of IRF-Washington, officially announced the site selection and dates for the next IRF World Meeting & Exhibition before an audience of more than 1000 delegates at the Closing Ceremony of the XXIV PIARC World Road Congress in Mexico City on September 30.

Sankey announced, “The 17th IRF World Meeting will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from November 9-13, 2013. The IRF World Meeting, which is held every four years, is the largest gathering of industry leaders from the public, private and academic sectors from around the world who will address critical challenges, exchange knowledge, and develop solutions to achieve sustained global prosperity.”

The overall theme of the event is: delivering global prosperity, which is embodied in the symbol for Saudi Arabia: the Kingdom’s native date palm tree. Sankey described the content of the event as consisting of “Plenary, executive, technical and certified training courses offered in transport policy, road safety, pavements and materials, sustainable transport, integrated mobility and ITS, transport security, asset management, highway construction and operations, tunnel construction and operations, and PPPs and road financing. In addition, there will be an innovation forum, poster sessions, networking and social events, and other knowledge information sharing activities integrated into the 2013 World Meeting,” continued Sankey.

This was followed by an impressive video presentation that combined the best the Kingdom offers to visitors with the latest infrastructure projects and technology deployments.
