IRF 2009 Annual Awards Banquet

The IRF 2009 Annual Awards Banquet is an event to honor and recognize those companies, projects and individuals who have moved the road industry forward. This year’s Banquet will be held Monday, January 12, 2009 from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m., followed by a networking reception until 3:30 p.m. The event will be held at The Mayflower Hotel (Grand Ballroom), located in downtown Washington, DC (1127 Connecticut Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20036).

2008 GRAA Winners

This year's GRAA competition recognized 12 projects from around the world for their excellence in the road industry. During the banquet the winning organizations and their projects will be highlighted through video presentations and representatives will receive the GRAA trophies in recognition of their accomplishments.

IRF 2008 Student Essay Competition Winner

In 2008, IRF launched its Student Essay Competition. Many outstanding essays were submitted from students from nearly two dozen universities. Students were asked to submit an essay which addressed a topic under the theme for this year's competition - Road Safety.

Allison Daniello, a junior mechanical engineering student was selected as the winner of this year's competition. Daniello completed her essay - 'Motorcycle Guardrail Crashes: How can the risk of severe injury and fatality be reduced?' - under the supervision of Dr. Clay Gabler at Virginia Tech University. Daniello's achievement will be recognized and her $3,000 prize will be awarded during the banquet.

IRF Lifetime Achievement Awards

This year, IRF will recognize three individuals who have spent a lifetime contributing to building a better world - one road at a time. These individuals have devoted a considerable amount of time, money, energy and heart to our organization and the world road building community is far better for their influence. This year IRF is proud to honor Marion C. Dietrich, John O. Gehrett, and Dana Low for their lifetime of service and dedication to IRF and the road industry.
