The International Road Federation is pleased to announce that the latest edition of its Executive Seminar Series on Performance Based Road Maintenance Contracting will be held from October 31 — November 9, 2010 in Orlando, Florida at the Regal Sun Resort. International experts representing the fields of road maintenance contract management, financing and sustainable transport policy development have been scheduled to present best practices and case studies in maintenance contracting.
The seminar will include a five-day program of presentations and discussions about Sustainable Maintenance Programs. Participants will engage in working groups with experts who are actively involved in maintenance contracting and preservation in different parts of the world to discuss the application of best practices under different country conditions.
Upon conclusion of the Five-day program, two days of field trips will follow that include visits to local government agencies, a toll authority, contractor operations, and other points of interest. Engineers and managers who are involved in highway maintenance will benefit from this experience. More importantly, agencies that are privatizing their maintenance programs should send staff to learn first hand the ins and outs of effective and sustainable projects.
As part of a global effort to foster awareness of the importance of Sustainable Infrastructure Development, international lending organizations and donor agencies such as the World Bank currently provide loans and technical assistance to support the development and implementation of programs that will assist highway agencies and strengthen local commerce and industry.
