IRF honors outstanding achievements at its 2009 Annual Awards BanquetThe International Road Federation (IRF) presented 12 Global Road Achievement Awards (GRAA), the 2008 Student Essay Competition winner, and three Lifetime Distinguished Service Awards at its 2009 Annual Awards Banquet held at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. on January 12. More IRF Holds 2009 Fellowship ProgramThis year, 25 students from 19 countries participated in the IRF Road Scholar Program, bringing the 59-year program total to 1,180. The Fellows, from universities all over the United States, arrived, some nervous, others eager, and all unsure of what the next 10 days were going to bring. More IRF Holds Inaugural Road Scholar Career FairMore than 100 students from nearly 30 universities attended IRF's first ever career fair held January 14, 2009 during the Road Scholar Program. More IRF Update on U.S. Stimulus PackageOn Wednesday, January 28th, the House approved their $819 billion economic stimulus package titled "the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act." The bill passed on a nearly party line vote 244-188 with all 177 Republicans voting against the measure. More IRF Examiner - Call for PapersIRF is now accepting papers covering topics under five areas: road safety, pavement performance, road financing, ITS, and sustainability for the next issue of the IRF Examiner.
