Societa’Italiana Macchine SPA (S.I.M)
SIM S.p.A., one of the most prestigious European manufacturers of asphalt plants, started his activity in 1960 with 15 employees in the industrial area of Verona. Founders were two brothers in law Mr. G.F. Turrini and Mr. M. Bondardo.
Business started with the production of small asphalt plants and a few years later, when the development of this sector was most favourable SIM expanded the production to a complete range of large asphalt mixing plants and wide selection plant's components.
The brilliant performance led the company to a staggering success and a continuous growth, making the SIM name well known in the asphalt business world. SIM owners decided therefore to expand the production to respond to the high market demand and purchased in the industrial area of Bussolengo, 10 km West from Verona, 60.000 sq.m. of land and started to build a new modern and highly functional factory of 16.000 sq.m. planned according to the best functional and modern aspects.
This factory, that anticipated the future standards for quality, was inaugurated in 1980. In the meantime the expansion outside the national border accelerated and the export increased covering from the Middle East to the Scandinavian countries. The technological development has always been a company imperative, which lead SIM to be leader in asphalt recycling and low pollution asphalt production.
In 1991 the company's position was furtherly strengthened by joining the Swiss Group Ammann, who in 1994 celebrated 125 years of industrial activity. Within the Ammann Group, who also has production facilities in Switzerland, Germany and France, SIM maintains the full autonomy for what product development and market coverage is concerned, but can count on a stronger financial and technical background.
Today SIM is a joint-stock company with a deposited capital of Euro 3.6 millions. The turnover of the company is close to Euro 100 millions, of which approx. 85% to the export. SIM, for the design, development, production, sales and support of his products directly employs approx. 200 skilled employees and workers, with many more employed by our selected suppliers, that only produce following SIM drawings and according to SIM standard.
