Project: Diamond Enhanced Road Milling Teeth

Project Summary
Novatek is introducing a new innovative product that will change the paradigm that currently exists in asphalt milling and make a step change in road milling technology. Novapick is a Polycrystalline Diamond(PCD) attached to tungsten carbide substrate utilizing high pressure and high temperature technology. The diamond is then attached to a tungsten carbide bolster that is attached to the body of the road milling tooth or holder. Because of the super-hardness of PCD the diamond road milling tooth outlasts and outperforms the existing carbide road milling teeth by a factor of up to 35 times in milling asphalt. The tooth remains sharp and the product from milling (the road) is more consistent and reproducible. It means that rather than changing teeth the operator can keep milling for hours, days, weeks or even months with the same teeth. Fuel consumption can be less and machine vibration will improve, thus extending the life of the milling machine.

The teeth have been used in Florida, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, California and Montana by several leading road milling companies (References available on request). The teeth have been used in CIPR(cold in place recycling) and cold planning with extraordinary results. The road(product) and productivity of the road milling companies have been improved and enhanced.
